Who am I
There are many reasons why art visually stirs us.
For me, it connects and resonates a deep sense of comfort and stirs emotive inspiration.
My career as an artist was developed at a young age, being influenced by other talented members of my family and I found a feeling of belonging when I was engaged in an artistic creation.
The love of design gave me opportunities in both my previous careers and after moving back to my art, I once again fill my days painting original artworks that not only add beauty to a living space but I hope, encourage strength and comfort for the viewer.
My love of painting the ocean and the sky is an ongoing obsession.
We spend most of our lives in Akaroa, which is located on Banks Peninsular in New Zealand. Being able to embrace this special harbour, I feel connected to both the ocean and the stunning skyscapes that surround us.
Interestingly enough, even though my art reflects so many emotive ocean scenes, I am terrified of the sea and only feel comfortable when my husband is close by me when we head out on the water.
I paint mainly in oils on either wood panels or canvas, with many of my works on Tondo (circular) plates.
When asked why I produce so many circular paintings - for me, they express a porthole of a captured moment, a full circle of feelings and a way to embrace the viewer.
My paintings are now hanging in homes in England, Germany, United States, Singapore, Australia and our beloved New Zealand.
